Our hearing impairments do require different voices. I find the male Alex
voice for ALL phone functions to be much more understandable than the default
voices. I have bigger issues with the high frequencies so that makes sense.
When different ranges are effected different voices are more helpful. Thank
Goodness there are so many choices. I'm also grateful that Linda from Albany
and others spoke of the Com Pilot. That isn't bad either!!

Hi
I am severe hard of hearing and I find the compact voices way better than the
High Quality voices. To me I can understand the words better and they are
pronounce more correctly.

Subject: iOS10 High-Quality voices and hearing-impairments experiences?

For Jonathan and other hearing-impaired folks on here, who might be able to
shed some light on what I'm about to write: This morning I took the plunge and
tried the Tom and Juan High-Quality voice and upon voice samples,, (thy're way
too short to really get a grasp of the voice) didn't like the kind of
robotic-sounding Compact voice, so I put the High-Quality ones. They worked
great, but after several hours of using them, I found I wasn't able to
understand some words, thinking that maybe my ears were having problems, or
maybe the hearing aid battery getting low, but no. So frustrated was I getting
that I was about to throw the towel and return to the legacy Samantha and
Paulina voices. I thought I'll give the Compact voices a try, overall after a
friend on Whatsapp, told me of a comment he'd heard that several
hearing-impaired folks were also having frustrations with the iOS10's
High-Quality voices; so I decided why not give them a chance before throwing
the towl? And wow what a change! I'm able to clearly understand what the iPhone
is saying! So now I have to stay, on my 5S, Tom English US, and Juan Mexican
Spanish Compact voices. So I just wonder am I the only one who had these
frustrations with the High-Quality iOS10 voices? With the earpods they worked
great, but when having the phone normally at a distance without earpods, is
when the fristrations started, but as I said before, with the Compact voices, a
different world entirely!
Looking forward to experiences.
