Hello,
Does the first generation air support picture in picture?

Well, if you can have something playing in the background say
YouTube, and interact with another app using voice over, more
power to you. I can't. I'm also not sure if the picture in
picture app just has the picture, or if it actually would
continue with the audio after you moved to another app. Good
luck, if you do decide to go that way. Maybe you can try it out
at an Apple Store before you lay out the bucks.

Hi, Mary. I thought picture in picture would be neat because I
could have a YouTube video playing while doing other stuff, and
still get the audio while having the other app on the screen. I
don't think having two apps on the screen at the same time with
the split screen feature would be too bad. After all, I don't
have to worry about the text size being too small--I can't see
print at all--so that wouldn't matter.
Thanks,
Ari

Well, yes, you can definitely run iPhone apps on an iPad mini.
Do you have some sight? I'm asking because if you don't, I don't
see picture in picture being valuable for you. As for the split
screen, according to the reviews I have seen, it's not all that
great on the mini, due to the fact that the mini is already
rather small. Of course those were sighted folks writing those
reviews. I have a mini, it's an older one. And I never use
split screen. I see no value in it for me. Hopefully others who
do use it will have something different to say. The other
caution flag I would put up about the iPad mini for is that it is
running a chip which is two years old. No big deal? Not now.
But I wonder about the longevity of the device, since it's Chip
is that old. Rumor is, new iPads are coming out next spring, but
the question is, will the mini get a refresh?

i'm having trouble justifying the purchase of an iPad Mini 4.
I'm very intrigued by the iPad-specific features, such as having
two apps on the screen at a time with the split screen feature,
and the picture in picture feature. I just love the idea of the
keyboard case, too.
Does every app support the split screen feature, where you can
have two apps running side by side? How will I know if an app
does or doesn't support this feature? Also, can I use iPhone apps
on an iPad Mini? I know there are iPad-specific apps out there,
but will iPhone ones run on it, too?
I picked the iPad Mini over the iPad Air 2 because I've had a
play a few times with my mom's iPad, and I found it a bit
confusing. I got lost on the screen a lot, and had a bit of a
hard time finding iCons. I think a Mini would be a bit easier to
get used to, not to mention a bit more portable.
Thanks,
Ari
