on the same screen where you are asked to enter a passcode, there is a
button that says pass code options.
When you activate that button, there is another button that says don't add
pass code.
I believe that then there is another dyre warning about not adding a pass
code, but finally, finally, you should encounter a continue button.
And you won't have to worry about having a pass code.

Early this morning, I allowed Apple to install Ios10.2 on my iPhone, and
this time, I haven't lost
volume but before the upload is, finally and irrevocably, installed, I am
being asked to enter a
passcode, and a passcode is something that I won't be entering.
However, I understand that there is a setting whereby I can disable this
request, but I can't open
settings, and when I ask Siri to do so, all I get is "alert! emergency
call".
All suggestions of what I should do will be, gratefully, received and
studied.
