Actually, I've had mine for a couple of weeks and they're quite durable. Mine have actually just been through the washing machine by accident on a 60° wash with detergent and conditioner and they are still working :-). There are several videos on YouTube showing how they do survive quite lots of punishment including a fall from 10 feet, going through the washing machine and dryer and even submerged in water for at least a foot. The airports themselves also had hardly marked if at all when dropped. That said, please nobody test this on your own Airpods as there are never any guarantees.
