Hello Sieghard Yes, i thought that is how it should work. I have an iPhone 5S as well as a 7 and a friend has a 6 and both of us have the same problem. She is not subscribed to Apple music and for the first month of my trial I could play music even when airplay is on, so I do not know what causes this on our phones. Regards Fanus

The hole point about downloading music is so you can listen offline like when you are for example on a long flight etc. My wife downloads a lot of the music in her playlists and when she flew back to the Philippines recently she was able to have music for the 14 hour nonstop flight.
