Hi all,
I've been doing some reading on use of external bluetooth gps receivers, which are supposed to have routine accuracy down to 2 meters, and which do not drain the battery on your phone because they have their own battery (which you must charge separately, nothing is for free!) One such model is the Dual Electronics xgps 150e ($100), and a slightly faster model which allows 5 devices concurrently to pair with it is their xgps 160. Both the much improved battery life on the phone, and the much better accuracy sound interesting to me, so I wondered if anyone here had tried an external gps receiver? They are also supposed to be much more sensitive, working in downtowns full of buildings, inside houses, and other places where the phone's accuracy is pretty bad (sometimes using only triangulation off of cell towers, and not able to use GPS at all). These models I mentioned come with a rubber holder which you can strap to your wrist or a strap of a bag. What do you who constantly use some GPS navigation program like Blind Square or Nearby Explorer think about their current GPS accuracy and/or battery life? Do either need improving or is the first ok, and the second fixable by carrying a spare battery? Thanks, Chip Orange -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
