I just tried adding a new contact as well as adding one based from a phone 
number in my recent call list and had no issues whatsoever, either. I was able 
to type into the first name, last name and company fields, flick back and 
forth, double tap to go to th start or th end and go back to review or change. 
I suggest your husband should close all apps and do a Reset Network Settings, 
then try again.

He has the 6S. And sometimes creating a new contact from info that he had 
gotten from a phone call is quite problematic as well. I know he's not the only 
one to have this problem because I've heard of a few other people with the same 
issue.

new contact the other day. If he has 3D touch, he can try pressing little hard 
on the phone app, and then choose new contact from the menu that pops up. Hope
