Hello Vicky, The short answer to your question is most likely yes.
However, switching a SIM card between iMessage capable and non-iMessage capable devices can get a little tricky. I strongly suggest that you obtain a pay-as-you-go SIM card from your wireless provider, to be used in your Android device. Besides, it is not good to continually swap a SIM between devices as the more often you do it, the more likely the chance of damaging it.
