Hi Mark and All,

I don't know much about pay-as-you-go sims, but I can certainly investigate. And, now that you mention it, I think you might be right about a sim card eventually getting damaged. For, I have an old deactivated sim card I keep around here to be used to sometimes activate backup iphones used on Wi-Fi only; and, when I tried to put it in a micro sim adapter, just to see since my inexpensive Android phone takes a micro sim, it no longer fits snugly in that adapter. I'm sure I would be most unhappy if my only working sim card were to stop working say at eleven o'clock on a Saturday night.

Hello Vicky,

The short answer to your question is most likely yes.

However, switching a SIM card between iMessage capable and non-iMessage capable devices can get a little tricky.

I strongly suggest that you obtain a pay-as-you-go SIM card from your wireless provider, to be used in your Android device.

Besides, it is not good to continually swap a SIM between devices as the more often you do it, the more likely the chance of damaging it.

Mark

Although the iPhone is still my primary phone, now that I'm retired from work and have the time, I'm playing with Android just a bit. However, the first time I took my sim out of the iPhone and put it into an Android one, when I put it back into the iPhone several hours later I saw that I had missed several iMessages from the iPhone users in my family. So, if I go into settings and then into messages and turn iMessage off, will that allow me to receive messages from other iPhone users while I have my sim in the Android phone? I know about the send as sms setting, but I kind of hate to ask others to go in and change their phone settings because of what I'm doing.
