Hey Denise,

Most companies would let you buy an iPhone without subscribing to a
contract. Or of course you could pick one up from the Apple Store
closest to you or order it from Apple.com.

The trouble is the up front cost: you might be getting a cheap plan,
but you'll be paying hundreds of dollars for the iPhone at full price.
When you sign up for a two-year contract, you get quite a large
savings on that phone as an incentive.

If you're looking for an economical route, your best bet may well be
to buy an older iPhone, say a 3GS or a 4, on eBay, which you should be
able to do for a couple of hundred dollars with no contract. Just make
sure the phone is either unlocked, or locked to the carrier you want
to use.

Cheers,

Grant
