For one thing I would expect that unlocking the new iPhone X with Face Id will
be a lot easier and faster than with Touch Id. Of course there still will be a
passcode, I only heard bits and pieces this morning since I was at work and
couldn't listen to the whole keynote, but it sounds like Apple has this nailed
just as they did with Touch Id. I would further say that with this new iPhone
nobody can say Apple is not innovating, the same goes for the new Apple watch.
To put all of what they put in there including an LTE modem and still fit it in
the same size case as the Apple Watch 2 and still maintain the same battery
life is pretty cool and if anybody says Samsung already has Face Id (or
whatever they call it) then you better check the facts, on a Samsung phone it
is nothing but a useless joke since the phone unlocks if you show it a picture.
I think I did hear that Face Id is way more secure than Touch Id based on how
many things it compares and the fact it works in complete darkness is pretty
amazing although it almost has to for it to be taken seriously. I think Face Id
will be so easy to use that we'll only shake our head if we get to try it.
Strictly speaking that is not an accessibility feature, but it sure sounds like
Google, Samsung and everybody else will have to scramble to develop their
version of it which works as well.
Also sounds like Apple's "Airpower" is very cool and beyond what others offer
and the seamless and simultaneous charging of an iPhone, Airpods and the Apple
Watch is very practical and definitely an Apple sort of thing to come up with.
I am sure it is what they had in mind when they took away the headphone jack
last year and introduced the Airpods and now we are seeing where this is going
since of course I would be surprised if next year we wouldn't see all iPhones
getting this wireless charging technology and probably iPads too.
Lastly, I think the new iPhone X will be considered to be well worth it's steep
price whatever it is (I couldn't continue listening because it got busy at
work) and that many people with older iPhones and probably even quite a few
with the 6S/6S Plus and 7/7 Plus will upgrade. This phone is definitely packed
with the most new features of any iPhone in the last 4 or 5 years for sure,
maybe even the last 6 years.

Regards,

Subject: IPhone 10 and accessibility?

I watched the whole of this evening's Apple event, but perhaps I nodded off? I
didn't notice a single reference to accessibility. Is there anything in the
three new phones which would be better for a visually impaired person than the
iPhone 7 plus?
Puzzled
