Clarification:
Apple generally used to ONLY provide Software Support for 3Years:
Apple introduced its Apple iPhone4S in October2011 with iOS5 &
retired it in 2104, but Added an Extra Year of iOS updates because
Apple iOS9 was viewed by The Company as a More Stable than its
predecessor, iOS8
And, Now continues iOS support for 4Years NOT 5Years
So the iPhone6 will Likely be retired ThisYear,2017 & receive its
Last iOS update NextYear with iOS12

Hello, Apple is the only company to provide hardware support for at
least five years. From the information provided, you should be ok
with the 6+ for at least three years including this one, in which
iOS 11 will be definitely supported on the 6+.

to atleast an 8+ but, my main reason is because I have a 6+ and
wonder it'll support ios 11 but, how many beyond that. I seem to
recall people mentioning on this list that there are generaly a
number of upgrades any phone will take in ios before they're not
supported. Upgrading phones is an expensive venture. and I wonder
how much longer my 6+ will continue to support the ios
versions. Does anyone recall?
