Hi Tara,
It might be that some lint or something has gotten into that space. If you
have a can of air, you might try cleaning it out that way. Maybe, someone
else has a better idea. To me, it sounds like something is keeping a good
connection from happening.

There was some talk about wireless charging with a touch pad. My
iphone 6 is not charging. I think the place the charging cable sticks
is broken. There is no problem with the chargers I have tried many and
they work on other Iphones. My battery is completely dead. What can \I
do to charge the phone and is still back up still possible even if the
phone is of no use now?
