I have read probably a half hour of Jonathan's iOS 11 without the Eye book the other night and nothing ever happened with Voice Dream Reader. Have you tried to close all apps and reboot the phone? Have you rebooted since the update? I think doing a Reset Network Settings before a major update and to turn off the phone for 30 seconds and back on after the update is complete avoids a lot of little issues.
