Hello Chip, I’m not Richard, but if you want to maximize battery life and don’t care if you get emails instantly when they arrive you can either set it to fetch according to a schedule, say every 30 minutes or every hour or you can set it to fetch manually which means it only looks for new emails if you open the mail app.

Open settings. 2. Open Accounts and passwords. 3. Do the three finger swipe up because flicking right with one finger will stop on add account. 4. The last item on the screen is now fetch. You will need to set it for each mail account you have. No wonder my battery has been draining faster.
