Hello, you can be on any tab, except updates, and not just the apps tab. I do not find this at all complicated, however I have been using iOS 11 since public beta 1 when, in that release, you could not do anything regarding purchased apps. That thankfully is history and it is now very much usable. This is all part of the redesigned App Store introduced in iOS 11.
