I think in iOS 11.1 battery issues have been at least partially addressed, I don't seem to have them in a major way on my 6S Plus and my wife who has a 6S has not complained and I know in the past when something happened she would notice it and let me know. If you buy an 8 Plus you will of course get much better battery life because while it has a larger screen which uses more battery power, it also has a much larger battery than the 8. If you don't mind the size of the iPhone 8 Plus I'd say go for it. Of course now you are only a couple of hundred Dollars less than an iPhone X which gives you a phone barely larger than an iPhon e8 with a screen larger than that of an 8 Plus and according to Apple battery life as good or better than an 8 Plus. Keep in mind that of course then you are moving away from Touch Id to Face Id and no more home button, but eventually we'll all get there since I doubt Apple will have a single phone left with a home button in 2 or 3 years.

I have a IPhone 5S running IOS 11.1 and poor battery life has become more of a problem. I am planning to buy either the 8 or 8 plus, but to have my eyes wide open as they say, in understanding battery issues with IOS 11.1. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and experiences. Go in to settings, choose general and choose accessibility. Choose display accomadations and turn off the auto brightness setting if it's enabled, then make sure your brightness is at 0 percent. My brightness was at 0 but when auto brightness was on it still drained the battery much faster. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
