The Earpods and Airpods are not meant to go into the ear completely, just into the very outside. I find it is easiest to put them in with a sort of twisting motion, don’t hold them vertically so the pointy end where the cable is attached on the Earpods is straight down, hold them so it points a bit forward (between horizontally and vertically). Then put them in your ear and as you do this twist them downwards so the cable is not down pointing to your shoulder. Of course make sure you put the left in the left ear and the right in the right ear as they don’t fit well the other way around. The one with the remote control/the microphone should always be your right ear.
