Thanks to everyone who answered my question. There’s an app called Goodreads and I can look up series on there. It’s like a social networking site for bookworms where you can get book recommendations and chart your progress and share your progress with your friends.

In fact, Over Drive will even tell you what number, in the series, a book is, when possible. I love this app. I was going to begin an Audible subscription but discovered Over Drive, just in time. The thing is that Over Drive uses the exact same titles as Audible. This is all based on being a member of your local public library but other than that, the sky is the limit. As for a completely stand alone app that allows one to search for book series, I would be interested in obtaining that, also.
