I make life a little easier by using a 4 note stand alone tone generator which I purchased several years ago. It makes it faster than a single tuning fork. Before that, I used two tuning forks, an A and a C and that gave me a very good starting point. If you ever find a tone generator for the IPhone, please let us know.
