I also don't know why you as a single person has such issues. I have had iPhones since 2010 and started with an iPod Touch in 2009 and while I have had phones replaced by Apple for various reasons here and there, I have never had a swollen battery. One thing is for sure, during the first year and, if you buy Apple Care Plus, for 2 years, Apple's customer service is next to none. Having said all that I would simply try an Android phone and see for yourself. I am sure the platform and accessibility has come a long way and many visually and blind users love their Android phones. But as was pointed out, don't necessarily expect anything better and make sure you find out when you get a device what exactly its warranty is.
