Hello Kelly Thannks for the explanation. Just one other question: I heard that the iPhone 8 can be charged by placing it on some or other charge pad, more or less like the charging method of the apple watch. Is this true for iPhone 8 or is it only for the iPhone X? Regards Fanus

Both have the same processor so performance will be the same in each phone. The reason technology journalists say that the 8 is a disappointment is because the 8 was an incremental upgrade with no new technology. The x has a new camera system and a bigger screen with greater image quality. Face recognition is way more accurate than in Samsung phones.
