I would have preferred 8 dots myself but I get their reasoning for doing 6. If you just want to read braille like books, 6 dots is fine and $450 is a heck of a lot better than three thousand or so. My wife just wants a simple note taker to take to doctors, etc. and I just want to read NLS braille books from the library. I used an 18-cell Braille lite for years and managed just fine.
