I think Marie already said she doesn’t consider this to be a good solution because then if she needs to enter numbers after a phone call she can’t hear Voiceover. With automatic switching turned off you would have to find the Speakerphone button in order to put the call on the external speaker, this is the behaviour sighted people get. Of course they can see the button so it’s no big deal, with Voiceover you have to hold the phone somewhat close to your ear so you can still hear Voiceover and find the button but not close enough so the proximity sensor kicks in and disables the touch screen. Of course the alternative here is a headset and in fact even with automatic switching a headset will prevent this from happening.

However it is just not that convenient when you are out and about rather than at home. In the very beginning I did not use all that many things on the phone but now I am beginning to think you are correct that it is not the best for a phone. In my opinion, the iPhone is the worst cell phone I have ever had, but it is a great portable hand-held computer. HTH, Rick ----- Original Message ----- From: Marie To: viphone Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2018 3:43 PM Subject: Speaker phone issue I have an IPhone seven which goes to speaker phone when my ear is up against the phone and it is happening all too often. I have spoken to Apple and they are aware of the problem but have no solution. It is nerve racking and actually hurts my ear. Is there any possibility of lowering the volume of the speaker phone before it damages the only ear which still has hearing?
