Same here Rus! I use the phone only for playing one or two games, listening
to, perfectly, innocuous books, and sporting commentaries when there is
something interesting on such as the current Commonwealth Games which opened
last night in Brisbane, Australia.

use my ipad mini 4 for listening to books from NLS, audible, bookshare, books
I’ve converted to epup to read them in voice dream reader. I import
Collections of old time radio shows in the zip format to listen to them with
voice dream reader. I use downcast to listen to podcasts. I didn’t set up
icloud.

I like you Jewel, don't do any of the added security stuff which requires extra
steps in both setting up as well as in daily use of the phone. I'm not even
over 65 yet but I have nothing I keep on my phone that I can't afford to lose.
I get no adson Facebook I get no junk mail or ads.i Try and tweak settings as
best as possible to avoid all the added gathering of information which will go
on with or without us either way. There are no photos attached to any of my
contacts. I don't use the iCloud Drive.
I guess I'm a Neanderthal. I love my phone and use it nonstop throughout the
day. I skype use the calendar, check the clock read articles online, research
things through Safari though I find that very unsatisfactory, I,listen to
podcasts I listen to the radio I read a lot. I use the phone I text message I
checked mail.

I have two-factor authentication enabled and that does not require me to type
in any email address or long passwords and my trusted devices which I use all
the time behave just as always. However, if there is an attempt to access my
account from a new device then even if somebody had my password they could not
gain access because they would also need to have my iPhone which would have to
be unlocked for them to see the access code.
My iPhone is secured with Touch Id and of course there is a 6-digit passcode
for when I have to reboot my phone or for when for whatever reason the
fingerprint doesn’t work which is rare. I am out and about too much for my
phone to not be secured and if I do want somebody else to do something on my
phone I simply unlock it and then hand it to them.
For me not locking my phone would be not very different from leaving my house
unlocked when I’m not at home. Given the amount of hacking and not very nice
people gaining access to all sorts of accounts means security is important and
while two-factor authentication is not perfect it is currently one of the more
secure methods of protecting your accounts of course alongside a strong
password.

It is just a great bore. When I open my iPhone, I want to have immediate
access to whatever I opened it for, not have to mess around for 5 minutes:
exaggerating a tad, but I am sure that you know what I mean: typing in a long
email address and then an, equally, complicated password. There are times when
I want someone else to have access to my phone, so, rather than give out all
those details which, we are told, we should keep to ourselves, I would rather
just hand it over to get on with the initial reason for my giving it to him/her!

It is not necessary, nor will you be forced to enable two-step verification
when upgrading to, /
using iOS 11.3.
As for the steps to avoid it, when prompted, just select the "Not Now"
button.
I have a 6 S Plus, running iOS 11.3, using an iCloud account that does not
