Have you tried using it in portrait mode, I don't have an iPad but I believe it switches to the iPhone layout with just one window instead of the two side by side windows of the iPad. I assume you know the basics of this layout such as that your currently selected mailbox is displayed on the left side and messages you tap on to open are shown on the right? You might also want to explore the container option which can be added to the rotor and which offers some help in navigating to the various areas in apps.
