Hi, Anyone in the house can activate the HomePod with their voice. The owner of the HomePod has to have his or her iPhone on the WiFi network before the HomePod will speak text messages. So, anyone in the house can only activate the text messages if the owner of the HomePod is present. Not a perfect solution but that is how it works at the moment.
