When reading by line, if you flick up then flick down once the line will be read properly. I’ve also noticed that in some instances every other line is read properly. And if the, in my case, when my iPhone is in landscape things are read properly, no first letter of each line isn’t dropped. So in a sense landscape mode is a solution to the problem.
