I got the raise to wake turned off just now, I believe.

I vaguely remembered the practice area, but thanks for reminding me of it. I
have four years of experience with iPhones, having been a veteran of the 5S.

Another list member addressed the sensitivity problem; I don’t think the zomm
she talked about would apply to me as a total.

I hope this change will take care of the principal issue, though.

I am being prompted to finish setting up my iPhone, and I’m not sure what it’s
asking for exactly. I had found four years ago when I bought the last phone
that I assumed the A. T. & T. store had registered it with Apple and only found
later they hadn’t. I suppose that could be an issue but I also nknow I have
more features available now than the 5S hardware allowed even though they were
showing up in the operating system.

Subject: Re: Phone settings for the 8 Plus

Hello Bill,

Go to Settings, and choose Display & Brightness. One of the options on that
screen is Raise to Wake. If you turn it off, your phone won't talk when you
move it around if the screen is locked.

As for making gestures you don't intend, I would suggest going to Settings,
choosing General, then Accessibility, then VoiceOver. On that screen is an
option called VoiceOver Practice. If you double-tap that, you open a screen
where you can try out the various gestures. VoiceOver will tell you which
gesture it thinks you performed and what that gesture does. Once you get
familiar with the gestures, you're less likely to perform ones you didn't
intend. there's a done button in the upper right corner of the screen that you
can use to stop practicing.

I hope that helps.

Best,

Anna

Hello.

I’m having a couple issues with my new 8 Plus.

When I jiggle or bump it even slightly, the phone speaks, which can be
disconcerting to those around me if I’m in a group of people, such as at
church.

Also, the touch seems very sensitive to the slightest tap, for instance, when I
hit the home button, sometimes the phone opens a program such as Music, which I
am not meaning to open at that time.

What do I need to adjust, and where do I find those settings.
