Shane, all your apps will stay where they are after the upgrade. You
should back up the device through iCloud anyway just in case you need to
restore the device later, because of a corruption for example.

computer, my phone will no longer sync automatically with iTunes I guess as it
does now. So should I turn it on before I update?
