Hello Susie, I would like to suggest you another way to do it.go to your message text, Choose the button to write a new message, sorry, I don’t know how exactly it names because my iPhone is in French but it is at right top to your screen. You will have the field to type the name or the phone number of the person you wish to write, Above you will have suggestions that you can double tappe after, flip ride until you found text field, type your message and send it.
