Hello all who have been kind enough to respond to this.

I really appreciate the help. Now I have another question, or 2.

How do you all hold your phones?

I wonder this, because considering how I am holding my phone will likely affect
how the orientation is set. At least, I would think so, anyway.

So if I am texting, or something like that, I usually hold my phone up
straight, as if I were going to put it to my ear. I hold it in my left hand, as
I am prodominately left-handed. I use my right hand to tap the screen and such.

So if I want my Braille input screen to be in the tabletop mode, can I lay my
phone down with the earpiece to the left?

Now I am assuming this will make things somewhat backward for me?

I think I have a couple more questions. But at the moment I can't remember
them. So any help again is much appreciated. I am determined to figure this out.

Thank you,

Terri

Hello Terry,

First, table top mode is only used when typing with braille input. You would
face your phone as you normally do while navigating on your phone.
Braille input is used to type in an edit field, like a text message or email,
not to navigate your phone.

Now if you always want to use table top mode when typing with Braille Input,
then while in table top mode, just do a three finger swipe across your phone
toward you. This will lock the Braille input orientation, so every time you
switch to Braille input, it will automatically be in table top mode, and it
will not change just because you move or pick up your phone.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Hello everyone,

I have just recently learned about the Braille input method. I did not realize
this was something I could do with my phone. I kind of feel like a dork! LOL!
Anyway, now that I am aware of it, I want to learn how to use it. I followed
some great instructions I got. But I am thinking I am not doing something right.

When I go in to the rotter, and to Braille input, it’s set on the away screen.
When I am holding the phone long-ways, and on it’s side. When I lay it flat, it
states tabletop mode. I want to keep it here, I believe. So I swipe to lock it.
I keep thinking I have it. But maybe not?

The layout then looks funny to me. I seem to have to swipe sideways to see all
my Apps.
Is this how it should be?
And once I am on an App I want to open, how do I get it to do just that?
Double-typing on it now doesn’t seem to work.

Also, how do I switch back to the regular phone settings?
Also, if my phone is normally locked in portrait mode, do I need to change this
setting, before going to the Braille input screen?

Thank you in advance for any help. This is all quite odd to me, but very
exciting.

Terri
