Terri,

I hold my phone with the home button to the right when using Braille Input and 
do not have a problem.
If things do not work right for you, you can try recalibrating it by placing 
your 3 fingers from your right hand on the screen then the fingers from your 
left hand.
But normally you very seldom have to do this.

The best thing to do is to start the notes app, and just practice.  The more 
you use it, the more comfortable you will get.
