There is also a free online version of nearby explorer for the IPhone. I used the free version for about a month or so before I purchased the paid version. I like it very much. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it works well for me for both walking and in a vehicle. I also use BlindSquare which is cheaper but I don’t know if it will work where you are. Good luck.

I am not asking for a very extensive trial period, for me even a 1-day trial would be enough to figure out if I actually like the interface and how it presents information. I have used the Seeing Eye GPS app, but I just realized not that long ago that the 3-year subscription I had bought expired last January. My situation is that I don’t need such a dedicated GPS app very often, I live in a small town and have a dog. It’s extremely rare that I need it here. Mostly where I have used it was during trips to Vancouver, Calgary or other places so it’s one of those things, don’t need it often but when I need it it’s nice to havde. Nearby Explorer is of course a lot less expensive when it comes to an outright purchase, but I have heard from some people that the UI is a bit clunky and complicated so it would be nice to be able to try it out.
