Well, apparently writing an email to this list was enough to fix my problem re my phone not announcing who is calling. It suddenly started working again. I have done nothing but my phone now announces the caller again instead of just ringing.
It was not muted. As I said in my original email, I could hear the phone ring & could hear who was calling if I touched the text near the top of the screen. So, no idea what changed but will not complain until / if it stops working again.
