Hi, 

Let me clarify a bit. 
When you touched for example on a button with label "Login" the following text 
is send to the text-tospeech engine:
"login button". So, when you touch a key on the keyboard the character  will 
also be send to the text to speech engine to be spoke out.
The punctuation is a filter to the text that is send to the tts.
