OLED screens do not require back lighting so they're more energy efficient, provide true blacks and have a wider viewing angle. This will help with battery life and low vision users may appreciate the better contrast. OLED's are also thinner then LCD's, allowing companies to make thinner phones or using that space for something like a slightly thicker battery. Finally, OLED screens are flexible so the screen can wrap around a bit. This will give a slightly larger screen in a slightly smaller foot print. Blind people may appreciate this since their sighted friends will get a larger screen, that they'll appreciate, while the blind users who don't prefer a larger screen, will get the benefits of a smaller footprint. This flexibility will also allow for foldable displays and phones in the near future, again, something blind users may appreciate. https://www.trustedreviews.com/news/what-is-oled-3285263

The OLED screen offers advantages to those with some vision, but none for the totally blind, except that the battery life should be better if you turn screen curtain on and turn the brightness down to zero. Screen curtain never has affected battery life in the LCD models of course, but I seem to recall hearing this discussion last year where somebody pointed out that with OLED, it should.

Does an OLED screen provide any benefits for blind folks?

If not, it sounds like the XR, with a different screen would suffice, unless you want the better camera. Does anyone know how the camera on XR compares to earlier iPhone models?

Thanks, Keith
