Mark, thank you for the answer. I have called accessibility, and the gentleman has escalated the problem to the engineers. He told me basically the same thing, but he tried to tell me I had to have speak screen on, and I didn't have to to have it read continuously. The image problem makes sense. I just hate that speak screen, and when he checked it, it is not hooked to zoice over. He left me at so sorry can't help, but he said he would send to the engineers. Everyone please write to accessibility about this. Thanks.

The problem has to do with how images are imbedded into the book, itself. For example, in the recently released iOS 12 book, if you can place focus just after a certain image or another, continuous reading will go on for a very, very, very long time until another such image is encountered. Of course, this workaround only exists if you can see the images. Regardless, I will, along with you and others, I hope, report this bug to Apple. Has anyone had a problem with continuous reading in Books (iBooks?) I have cycled off and on my phone, hard re-booted my phone and looked under settings and books to see if there is a setting. What have I not done? Is there a setting in accessibility? I would rather not have the speak screen on if possible, but if I need it where do I go to find it? Also, I can get it to continuously read 2 pages and then at the bottom of the second page it stops and I have to use the picker to turn the page. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Running iPhone X with IOS 12. Oh, just thought about deleting and reinstalling. How do I get a clean copy or will I just delete everything and then get back what I have? Thanks again for any help on this. Reggie and Lex God said, "I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind.
