I posted it a few days ago and personally find it relatively straight forward,
the only time something is not announced as a button is the phone number at the
top right after you double tap on the conversation. I can see where somebody
might be confused and not tryto double tap on it since it is not indicated as
something you can tap on.
Compared to prior version this first step really is the only extra step, before
the Details button was there at the top right and you had to tap on it, then
tap on the phone number again once the detail screen opened and then find the
Create New Contact button.
I guess Apple could maybe include “Create New Contact” or “Add to Existing
Contact” as a rotor action? Not sure if that is possible, but for those who
find the current method too diffficult they could maybe write to Apple
Accessibility and suggest it.

Subject: Adding a contact from a text message [was "Re: Couple of IOS 12
Questions"]

To add someone who sent you a text message to your contact list:

1) Double tap on the conversation to expand it.

2) Double tap on the phone number at the top of the page.

3) Double tap on the Info button near the top of the page.

4) Double tap on the number at the top of the page.

5) Double tap on the create new contact button near the bottom of the list of
options.

Thanks to someone who posted this earlier, but it still takes me some trial and
error to finally get into the right list of options.

Couple of questions I hope someone can shed a little light on!
Firstly, how do you go about adding a phone number from a text message to a new
contact? I for my life cannot figure it out. Secondly, has anyone else noticed
that now when creating a new text message and wanting to add an emoji that
voiceover will no longer read what it is? Mine just announces “Meme images” as
I swipe through them.
