You have to slide up and the first tone is to bring up the home page and the
second tone will activate the app switcher. It takes practice but you should
get the hang of it.
If you are referring to Hey Siri, go into the settings for siri and turn the
feature on.

Hi,
I am having problems bringing up the home screen and app switcher on my
IPone XR.
First, as I move my finger up I hear a sound indicating I have reached one
of those magic spots. Am I wrong in thinking that I ought to be able to
lift my finger from the first tone and have the app switcher come into
focus?
Second, I am having trouble hearing the tones. This is especially true of
the second tone that brings up the home screen because voice over is reading
other stuff on my screen between the two places where the tones occur. I
suspect this will be a problem when I'm not in a quiet setting.
Can anyone help me understand how to live without the home button?
