My Apple store is in Rancho Cucamonga CA. The crowd outside wasn’t necessarily for the new iPhones. That place is just always busy. You swear they give away free meat there or something. It’s always crazy full.
I think while there between yesterday and today, we heard English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and God knows what other languages we couldn’t identify. All I have been seeing in the tech press is that there are no lines etc. I don’t have an Apple Store in my hometown. So I have no first-hand experience. I was at Best Buy today, and they were crowded at all. But that’s not the Apple Store. My God. Apple stores are soooooooooooooo loud and there were so. Many. People. Ended up spending almost three hours there. Anyway, While she was getting her battery looked at, the Apple guy was trying to sell me on an iPad and Apple Music. Yeah, I’m good. This is my iPad and for a few commercials, I’m cool with nice and free Pandora. Anyway, I ended up also getting one of those lightening to 3.5 jack adaptors for some headphones I always use. I tried talking the guy into hooking me up, but nope. So what if you just dropped $1000 on their stuff. Apple’s going to squeeze every last drop out of you. Capitalism baby. Anyway, I got home. Attempted the restore from iCloud and during this process, the darn phone bricked. I got stuck on the passcode screen with no way to get out of it. An hour later on the phone with Apple support and two tech supervisors their suggestion was to simply take it back for an exchange. The earliest date they could give me for a “Genius Bar” appointment was this Thursday. Whatever. I showed up this morning at 11:00 when they opened and dear God. There were already easily 100 people outside of the place waiting for it to open its doors. There were already Apple folks running around with iPads signing folks in and crap. I mean seriously? What the hhell? Everyone go home. I went into full helpless blindy mode and was squeezed in right away. After running whatever tests they had to do on my device, they determined that I had a lemon. Something to do with a booty display. I’m sure that’s what they tell everyone though. Who cares. The end result was that I got the exchange and this time, I had them set it up for me and do the iCloud restore there. An hour later, I was out of the place. Man, this thing is big. My SE feels so puny. -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
