Isn't there a setting for vibrate level in the newer phones - I thought three
levels of sensitivity?

I don’t feel a thing. Do I have it turned off or something. My sense of touch
is good enough I ought to be able to detect it.

Oh good, thanks Mary for confirming that it has taptic feedback, as that's the
next phone I'll be getting, the X R.

I figured out that when voice over starts reading items on the
screen as I move my finger from the top or bottom of the screen that I am
moving it too slowly. When I move my finger a little faster the tones are all
that are “spoken”.

I also figured out that if I do not hear the tone at the top or
bottom of the screen that I have not started my finger movement in the right
place.

You should also have haptic feedback meaning there should be a
vibration when you reach the first and second point for app switcher and home
screen.

I figured out part of my problem is that the app switcher comes
up at the third plunk, not the first.

Thanks for the idea of the assist gestures.

                Hello,

Yes you can set up the assistive touch option and have menu
options. This will show up as a small dot on the screen that you can actually
set to utilize the home gesture, app switcher, Notification Center and control
center. It’s not ideal but it could work as a work around in noisy situations.

Please let me know if you need or want any further assistance
setting this option up. You can email me off list at

and hold the power and one of the volume buttons until the power off screen

You have to slide up and the first tone
is to bring up the home page and the second tone will activate the app
switcher. It takes practice but you should get the hang of it.
If you are referring to Hey Siri, go

                                        Hi,

I am having problems bringing up the
home screen and app switcher on my IPone XR.

First, as I move my finger up I hear a
sound indicating I have reached one of those magic spots. Am I wrong in
thinking that I ought to be able to lift my finger from the first tone and have
the app switcher come into focus?

Second, I am having trouble hearing the
tones. This is especially true of the second tone that brings up the home
screen because voice over is reading other stuff on my screen between the two
places where the tones occur. I suspect this will be a problem when I'm not in
a quiet setting.

Can anyone help me understand how to
live without the home button?

                                        Thanks.
