There is no microphone on the long narrow side where the mute switch
and volume buttons are. Not sure about the new 10 phones since I think
they added a third microphone, but on the older phones the microphone
is at the bottom left, the speaker is on the right, the lightning port
is in the middle and the microphone is on the right.

Here's what I do to get pretty good dictation results. I hold the
phone in front of me long ways and about six inches away from my
mouth. I talk where the volume and mute switch is. From my results
that's the mic dictation uses. I have really good results doing it
this way.

a message to apple regarding this because you have no idea what to
call it and not everyone who dictates is experiencing this. I am
now using an iPhone 8 but I also started noticing this while using
the 7. It’s weird but hopefully something can be done about it.
Initially, I thought it was something wrong with my speaker so I
took my 7 into the apple store and they said that there was
something wrong with the speaker. Rather than paying to have it
repaired, I chose to upgrade to the 8. To my surprise I started
having the same issue. I also took the 8 in and have been told
that the 8 is find and the hardware has no issues at all. If you
ever get this resolved please share to the list so that the rest
of us can get it worked out.

I also have this problem. Another problem I have when I am
dictating, is that sometimes it does put in a word that I didn’t
even say. Or several words that I didn’t even say. When I read
them it sounds correct pillow, so I don’t realize it. I wish they
were actually figure out how to make dictation better like it used
to be.

shortcut for your email address. I have one setup for all my
personal and my work email, I start all of them with a double
e as in “ee” because not many words I can think off start with
a double e, then I added an o for my outlook.com

email address, a b for my business email address, a g for my
gmail address. So, if I need to type my email say when logging
in on a website I just type “EEO” and when I press space it

I have definitely seen this happened, and it did not start
with iOS 12, and it is inconsistent. That means it’s probably
going to be hard to pin down on Apple side. Here’s wishing

dictate properly, and I tried to fix things. But it’s
frustrating when I write something out, and then think
