All you have to do is double tap and tell Siri to lower or increase the volume .. or go to a certain volume level. Not always discrete…but works…

I can get around 4 hours out of them, listing to audio…making the occasional phone call and such. Remember, the higher the volume, the faster they will die. If memory serves me correctly the 5 hours is listing to audio .. at 50%. So, adding in phone calls and bumping the volume will have a direct impact on this. As was suggested I would talk to either someone at the Apple Store, or call their support line. You should be getting way more than 2 hours .. Kuo says 2020 will see an even more improved model of AirPods. What exactly the possible 2019 version will bring and whether it will come out in the first 3 or 4 months of the year as some seem to think or not until the September iPhone event is anybody's guess. I assume that the price for any new version of Airpods will stay roughly the same at around $160 US and $220 Canadian and one can probably pick up the earlier model for a bit of a deal for a while after a new one comes out and until all the older ones are sold. I also think that if we start to see the current Airpods on sale at places like Best Buy, Target etc. then maybe a new one will be close. As I said, I'm in no particular hurry, I've gotten along this long without I can manage for another 6 or 8 months or a year or a year and a half. I am not a huge fan of Bluetooth so it really needs to be a good update before Apple gets my money for those. I totally like the idea of the Airpods but I don't yet like the implementation/design. I am glad I have held off so far because even if I buy Apple Airpods it sounds like waiting a bit longer may reward you with a newer, more advanced model. Whatever Amazon and Google may come up with sounds like won't come to market until the second half of 2019 so maybe I'll even wait until then to see, after all, given the price of these little guys it is not something you want to buy and then regret a few month later.
