If the calls were forwarded then they wouldn't land in her own voice mail just as the call would be answered if auto answer had been turned on as somebody else suggested. I am still curious to hear if she tried to turn off the phone, remove the SIM tray (just have to push the release button with a paper clip or the removal tool and pull it out half way) then push it back in and turn the phone back on.

Just in case, try using the keypad and press *73 then press the call button. If this is the problem you should hear several beeps and then it will disconnect.It is worth a try.
