An Apple accessibility rep had me try this in hopes of solving a problem of
iMessage showing supposed messages that actually weren’t there, which never got
solved apart from Mike turning off badges in notifications, since I don’t feel
like restoring the operating system for fear this could happen again; this has
happened before, but nothing I did helped.

Anyway, when I did how I was instructed, the iPod never came back! I thought it
was done for! After plugging and unplugging a few times with no luck, as a last
ditch effort I held the two buttons in again, at which point, it came back.
Just warning you what could happen.
