Anna,

Many thanks for restating the steps to move apps without using the drag and
drop approach at which I so abysmally failed. Now that I'm reading your
instructions, I recall having read them previously but I couldn't recall them.

Alan

Hi Alan,

Once you turn on editing mode, touch the app you want to move, flick down until
VoiceOver says, "Drag," and double-tap. Go to the place where you want to put
the app, flick up or down until you hear the option to drop the app before,
after, or on the item you're focused on. When you get to the option you want,
double-tap. Note that you can drag multiple items at one time. If you decided
to use folders, for instance, you could create a folder, then drag all the apps
you wanted, touch that folder, and drop them there.

I think you will have to move both of the items currently in your folder to get
rid of the folder, but using this method makes doing that much easier than
trying to drag items where you want them.

Best,

Anna

Hi List,

I'm using an iPhone 8 running iOS 12.4.2 and will be the first to admit that I
really don't use folders. I'm familiar with the iPhone editing process but
while attempting to move an app from one page to another, I mistakenly dropped
it onto another app on the incorrect page and iOS automatically created a new
folder which I think it named using the tagged category of the app I was moving
and now I have 2 apps in this unwanted folder. First, if there is a better way
to move an app than double tapping and holding followed by dragging and
releasing to the desired location, I'd love to hear about it. When I attempted
this, Voiceover gave me no feedback on which page I was on. As I only had one
location to which I was attempting to move the app, not knowing the page I was
on sort of made the move operation doomed to failure. I have 14 pages of apps
and all pages are full except for the last one.

I need to confirm the best method to remove the moved app from the unwanted
folder which I'm hoping will simultaneously delete the folder when it's left
with only one app in it. I expect I'll have to open the folder, place focus on
the app I wish to move, single finger swipe down to start edit mode then double
tap and hold the app to move followed by dragging it to the desired location.
As I mentioned previously, I'd love to be able to tell iOS on what page to
place this moved app but I think I'll only have the option to drag and drop it.
Any guidance on the best approach will be greatly appreciated as I'm not
expecting my next attempt to drag and drop to go much better.

After the unwanted folder only has one app remaining in it, will I also need to
drag and drop that app somewhere using the procedures just described in order
for the folder to disappear?

Thanks in advance for any assistance. I know this has been discussed ad
infinitum here but as I don't use folders, I've not paid attention to those
posts.
