Hi Jewel. When my Eye phone 6 was bighting the dust it made a high pitched wine sound and voice over wouldn't come on. That sounds like what is going on hear. Apart from getting a new phone might I sugest trying to plug the phone into your pc and see if that will bring back voice over. Apart from that you can try calling apple's phone number for accessibillidey witch is at least hear in Canada and the Us 877) 204-3930 hth. From Mich.

I hope that I can explain what is happening, or, to be precise, what is * not happening. I will start by saying that for the past couple of weeks, at random times, it has been asking me for my password, but when I do a single finger double tap on "not now" it goes on with whatever I had it doing. I have no security settings on the phone as there is no sensitive information like bank account numbers etc stored in it, so I was * surprised when I switched it on last night, and it asked: no! I will rephrase that: it demanded that I enter my Apple id, password and email address. Reluctantly, I attempted to do all that which was demanded , but it wouldn't accept anything. There is no voice: I have pressed the up volume button until my finger has a blister on it and I have checked the mute button, but voice-over is not there, and in fact, with the exception of the book that I am reading over which I have very little control, nothing is working. I can't even switch it off. I thought that I had, eventually, done that by holding the power and home buttons down for several seconds at the same time, but when I release them, I get, not the normal screen locking click but a, slightly drawn out one as though I had taken a photo. When I checked the phone this morning, it was very hot, so, obviously, I had not succeeded in switching it off. I haven't the smallest notion of just what has gone wrong. Does my explanation give any clue as to what I can do to fix whatever has gone haywire. I have not, recently, done an update and think, though won't bet the ranch on it, that the latest IOS update was 11. and a small handful of decimal placings. I have just checked it and nothing has improved except that it is not as hot as it was, but none of us are after a time when we have turned our toes up/kicked the bucket and the multitude of other euphamisms for crossing the rainbow bridge.
