One thing I really like about these custom pronunciations is they are backed up along with other VoiceOver settings to iCloud. This makes going from one device to another that much easier. Not a show stopper, but it certainly helped to have them entered. Also, when I had an Apple TV, I noticed that my pronunciations were synced across my devices.
