Richard, Are you sure they said “Dogahide” and not “Naugahyde”? PU leather is in fact artificial, the PU stands for polyurethane and traditionally PU Leather is made from a part of split leather which is usually left over when premium leather is made and the Polyurethane is then applied to it. This is similar to Polyurethane used for protective and clear coatings on wooden furniture and it certainly won’t be natural leather touching your ears with these headsets. Yes, some of the more expensive headsets use a very soft premium leather for their earcups, but whether this is better or worse I can’t say, but I do wonder if some of the vegans who completely reject any animal based food because of the ethical concerns with animal husbandry think of this when buying their premium headset.
